Detroit, MI – Michigan residents should prepare for rain Sunday, with freezing rain posing a risk during early morning hours in parts of the state.
The National Weather Service warns that freezing rain is most likely between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday in areas such as the Saginaw Valley. Untreated surfaces, including sidewalks, parking lots, and bridges, could become slick, leading to hazardous travel conditions. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially in the morning hours.
Sunday’s high temperatures will reach the low 40s, offering a brief reprieve from colder weather. Rain will persist throughout the day, adding to already damp conditions.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring even warmer weather, with highs nearing 50 degrees. However, rain chances remain high, continuing into Tuesday. By midweek, colder air will move back into the region, bringing the possibility of snow showers.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and plan for potentially icy conditions early Sunday. Road crews will likely work to treat major routes, but secondary roads and sidewalks may remain slick.
Stay tuned for updates on midweek snow chances as colder conditions return.
