Grand Rapids, MI – After a stretch of mild spring temperatures, Grand Rapids is set for a shift in weather this weekend. While Thursday and Friday will bring warmth and sunshine, rain showers Friday night will give way to possible snow by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will be mostly sunny, reaching a high of 60°F, with light east winds. Friday will be even warmer at 72°F, but gusty southeast winds up to 23 mph will develop ahead of an approaching weather system.

By Friday night, rain is expected to move in after 2 a.m., with a 100% chance of showers. Saturday will see periods of rain, mainly before 8 a.m., with a high near 68°F. However, the main concern arrives Sunday when colder air moves in, bringing a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Highs will drop to 40°F, and overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s.

Road conditions could be impacted by the transition from rain to snow, especially on I-196 and U.S. Route 131. Drivers should remain alert for possible slick spots.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring a return to sunny skies with highs near 46°F, and Tuesday will continue the warming trend with a high of 59°F. Stay updated on road and weather conditions as the weekend approaches.
