Gaylord, Mich. – Rain and thunderstorms are soaking much of northern Michigan this Monday, with showers gradually shifting northward and easing by late evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, scattered storms will linger into Monday afternoon along and north of M-32, especially across the eastern Upper Peninsula. Southern areas, particularly near Saginaw Bay, could see drier skies and a notable warm-up, with highs climbing into the mid-60s — a sharp contrast to the cooler, wetter north.

By Monday night, precipitation will taper off from south to north, clearing most of northern Michigan by 9 p.m. and the eastern U.P. closer to 11 p.m. Tuesday looks drier overall, though some clouds and isolated rain chances may stick around in places like Manistee, Cadillac, and Lake City.

Rain could return briefly Tuesday night across northern Lower Michigan, especially west of I-115. The Upper Peninsula is expected to remain dry.

Looking ahead, a larger system may bring a stormier pattern back later in the week, with colder temperatures likely following behind.

Warnings are not currently active, but more updates are expected if conditions shift.
