Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents should prepare for a wet and potentially snowy midweek as rain showers dominate the forecast. A cold front arriving Wednesday night could shift rain into a wintry mix for areas near I-94.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Detroit, rain will persist throughout Wednesday with high temperatures in the mid-50s, but colder air is expected to move in during the evening. This change brings a chance for wet snow overnight into Thursday morning, especially in areas south and west of Detroit. While snowfall accumulation is uncertain, slick roads are possible during morning commutes.

Residents are advised to drive cautiously, particularly along I-94 and I-75, where precipitation and gusty winds could reduce visibility. Winds are expected to reach up to 20 mph Wednesday and Thursday, compounding travel challenges.

The extended forecast shows highs dropping to the low 40s Thursday and Friday, with rain likely continuing through the end of the week. Saturday offers some relief with drier skies and highs near 46 degrees.

The NWS emphasizes that snow amounts, if any, remain low confidence due to warm ground temperatures and variable air masses. Motorists and residents are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for quickly changing conditions.
