Gaylord, MI — A shift in weather is on the way for Northern Michigan, with a mix of rain and snow expected to affect travel and weekend plans across the region.

According to the US National Weather Service Gaylord office, Friday will remain mostly sunny with afternoon highs ranging from 40°F to 54°F. However, rain chances will increase this evening and continue overnight into Saturday.

On Saturday, temperatures will hover between 39°F and 52°F as a rain/snow mix develops during the day, eventually transitioning to mostly snow before tapering off by Saturday evening. Forecasters say the system will bring very light to no snow accumulation across the area, easing concerns of significant disruption.

Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies with temperatures between 35°F and 47°F and renewed rain chances late in the day.

Drivers are advised to remain cautious, particularly Saturday morning through evening, as wet roads and brief snow showers could reduce visibility and cause slick spots. No major travel delays are expected.

Residents should monitor local updates for changes, especially in higher elevation areas that may briefly see snow sticking.
