Detroit, MI – A marginal risk for severe thunderstorms is in place across Michigan tonight, with strong winds and isolated storms expected in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and non-severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon through midday. However, conditions will turn warmer and breezier as the day progresses, with temperatures climbing into the 70s and southerly winds gusting over 30 mph.
The risk of showers and thunderstorms will increase again after 8 p.m. in the Saginaw Valley, with storms reaching other parts of Michigan after midnight. Isolated severe storms are possible, capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail, particularly in areas experiencing heightened storm activity.
Looking toward the weekend, conditions will be seasonably warm with breezy weather expected on Saturday. There is also a chance for lingering showers in the morning before dry and cooler conditions settle in for Sunday. Rain chances will return Sunday night.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and prepare for possible storm impacts, especially during the evening and overnight hours.
