Marquette, MI – Snow showers are expected to move into the Marquette area Friday afternoon, bringing slick roads and freezing temperatures. Residents should prepare for potential travel delays and icy roadways, especially in areas prone to lake effect snow.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow could begin late tonight, with increased chances Friday afternoon as a cold front pushes through the region. Highs on Friday are forecast between 21 and 28 degrees, but wind chills will make it feel even colder. Drivers are urged to use caution, particularly along US Route 41 and other frequently traveled roads.

Lake effect snow will persist into Saturday morning, with additional accumulations possible in northwest wind belts. Low temperatures are expected to dip into the single digits, making frostbite a concern for anyone exposed to the cold for prolonged periods. Gusty winds may also reduce visibility during periods of heavy snowfall.

Looking ahead, Sunday brings a significant chance of snow showers, with a high near 27 degrees. By Monday, snow could taper off, but temperatures will remain below freezing.

Residents are encouraged to keep emergency kits in their vehicles, avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall, and monitor updates from local weather services. If you plan to be outdoors, bundle up and limit skin exposure to prevent frostbite.
