Grand Rapids, MI – Rain is on the way for Grand Rapids as the city braces for showers and cooler temperatures Monday through Wednesday. A weather alert is in place for residents as spring showers move in, bringing a 50% chance of rain Monday afternoon. The region can expect frequent downpours and even some thunder Monday night, with gusty winds reaching up to 24 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, a low-pressure system will cause rain to start around noon on Monday, continuing through the night. Temperatures will stay in the mid-60s during the day but will drop to around 50°F overnight. While not expected to be severe, the rain could impact driving, so motorists should be prepared for slick roadways and low visibility, especially along I-96 and I-196.

Tuesday’s forecast looks similar, with a 40% chance of showers and a high of 65°F. The rain will taper off in the evening, but temperatures will remain on the cooler side. It’s a good idea to keep an umbrella handy and be mindful of puddling on streets, especially in low-lying areas and along busy commuter routes.

By Wednesday, however, the weather will improve, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 71°F. This break in the wet conditions will give the region a chance to dry out before more wet weather potentially returns later in the week.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast indicates that temperatures will rise back into the mid-60s by Thursday, with mostly sunny skies. If you’re planning to travel or head outdoors this week, be prepared for unpredictable spring weather, and keep an eye on updated forecasts for any further advisories.
