Marquette, MI – A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday as lake effect snow continues to hammer parts of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The heaviest snowfall is expected along and north of M-28 from Munising to Newberry, where totals could reach up to 30 inches by Sunday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts gusty winds up to 35 mph, which will create dangerous driving conditions and reduce visibility in areas of heavy snowfall. The storm is expected to impact Thanksgiving holiday travel, with roads likely becoming impassable in some areas.
Residents are advised to stay off roads and prepare for snow-covered driveways and potential power outages. Snowfall is expected to persist through Monday in some areas.
