According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, scattered showers are expected to develop after 2 p.m. Friday, with a higher chance of thunderstorms and downpours after 5 p.m. The storms could linger into the night, especially in communities like Hamtramck, Dearborn, and Royal Oak, before clearing by early Saturday. Winds may reach 10 to 14 mph with gusts topping 23 mph during the day.
Drivers should anticipate wet roads and possible ponding in low-lying areas, particularly along I-94 and I-75. Friday night’s low will dip to 52°F as showers taper off after midnight.
The weekend looks drier, with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching 66°F Saturday and 72°F Sunday. Northwest breezes will persist through Saturday evening, helping to dry out saturated ground.
