Hamtramck, Michigan – A surge of strong winds, heavy rain, and possible thunderstorms will barrel through southeast Michigan Tuesday, putting drivers and residents on high alert as the region enters an unsettled spring pattern.

According to the National Weather Service, Hamtramck and surrounding cities, including Detroit, will see increasing clouds early Tuesday morning. By 8 a.m., showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop, with the heaviest rain expected along major routes like I-94 and I-75. Breezy southwest winds could gust as high as 31 mph, making travel hazardous, especially during the morning and midday hours. Commuters should avoid flooded roads, allow extra time for travel, and secure outdoor items.

Rainfall could be heavy at times, raising the risk of minor street flooding and reduced visibility. NWS notes showers may linger into Tuesday night, with skies only partly clearing and winds shifting northwest. Although severe storms are not a guarantee, any thunderstorm could bring dangerous lightning and brief downpours.

By Wednesday, expect a break with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 60s—ideal for outdoor plans or yard work. However, rain returns Wednesday night into Thursday, keeping the threat of slick roads and ponding in low spots alive.

Looking ahead, Thursday stays unsettled with rain likely, then Friday brings cooler air and clearing conditions. The weekend should see sunnier, calmer spring weather, perfect for local events.

Stay tuned to NWS Detroit for possible weather advisories. Another round of alerts is possible as conditions evolve through the week.
