Gaylord, Michigan – Showers will taper off Tuesday morning, but wind gusts and a frost risk return midweek as Northern Michigan faces a turbulent stretch of spring weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a low-pressure system will exit the region Tuesday morning, leaving behind clearing skies but ushering in cold air and gusty winds. Tuesday night’s low drops to 35°F, and calm conditions overnight raise the chance of frost formation—posing a threat to early gardens and sensitive vegetation.

Showers linger early Tuesday with a 40% chance of rain before skies gradually clear. Highs reach 50°F during the day with improving travel conditions across Otsego and Cheboygan counties. Winds will shift southeast at 5 mph late Tuesday, setting up a crisp, dry Wednesday. Sunshine dominates Wednesday with highs near 67°F, though lingering breezes may keep it feeling cooler.

Thursday continues the spring rebound with partly sunny skies and a high near 69°F. Showers return Thursday night into Friday, possibly affecting morning commutes on M-32 and I-75. Friday remains unstable, with rain likely after 2 p.m. and highs near 60°F.
