Gaylord, Michigan – Lakeside plans may need a backup option this weekend as chilly nights, patchy drizzle, and water temperatures in the 30s and 40s persist across northern Michigan into Memorial Day.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, cloud cover and light rain will linger tonight, especially in the eastern Upper Peninsula and northeast Lower Michigan, with overnight lows between 37 and 43 degrees. Saturday will bring scattered rain chances, particularly east of I-75, while Sunday features spotty showers with highs ranging from 55 to 65 degrees.

Holiday travelers should be aware that Great Lakes water temperatures remain dangerously low—between 30 and 40 degrees—posing a hypothermia risk for anyone entering the water. Despite the cool stretch, Monday brings relief: Memorial Day is expected to be mostly dry, with highs climbing to the upper 60s and low 70s.

Rain chances return Wednesday as a new system moves in, bringing the region back to more seasonable norms in the 60s and 70s by midweek. Updates will follow as forecasts solidify ahead of the next round of showers.
