Detroit, Michigan – Afternoon temperatures in Southeast Michigan are pushing heat indices into the mid-90s Saturday, bringing dangerous conditions for outdoor activities and increasing the risk of heat-related illness.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, heat indices will peak near 95°F in cities like Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Monroe through 6 p.m. Saturday. While Saturday remains mostly dry, an isolated thunderstorm could develop across the Thumb region.

Cities including Port Huron, Saginaw, and Midland are also facing oppressive humidity. Air-conditioned spaces and hydration breaks are advised, especially for vulnerable populations. Detroit is expected to see a high of 93°F with humidity making it feel closer to 96°F by mid-afternoon.

Relief may arrive Sunday evening, with scattered showers and thunderstorms forecast to move through the region. Sunday highs will still reach into the upper 80s and low 90s, keeping the heat index elevated through much of the day.
