Northern Lower Michigan – A frost advisory has been issued for several counties in Northern Lower Michigan, with freezing temperatures expected to drop as low as 33°F overnight. The advisory, which is in effect from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday, could lead to the formation of frost, posing a significant risk to tender outdoor plants and crops.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in areas such as Emmet, Cheboygan, and Grand Traverse counties could dip into the low 30s overnight, resulting in potentially harmful frost. Areas like Alpena, Otsego, and Kalkaska may experience similar conditions, affecting gardens and vegetation left uncovered.

Farmers and homeowners are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive plants from the cold. Covering outdoor plants with cloth or moving them indoors can prevent frost damage. Frost could cause widespread harm to crops and flowering plants that are vulnerable to freezing conditions.

This advisory will last until 8 a.m. Thursday, and residents are advised to stay alert to potential changes in weather conditions. Additional advisories or warnings may be issued if conditions worsen.
