Grand Rapids, MI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of lower Michigan, including Grand Rapids, as snow and slick conditions continue to impact Friday morning commuters. Drivers are urged to travel cautiously, with icy roads and sidewalks creating hazardous conditions until late morning.

According to the National Weather Service, 1-3 inches of additional snow accumulation is expected through mid-morning, with total snowfall reaching up to 5 inches in some areas. Roads across western, central, and southern Michigan are particularly affected, with slower travel speeds and delays likely.

Friday’s high temperature is forecast to reach 30°F, with snow tapering off by mid-afternoon. Gusty winds of up to 22 mph may cause blowing snow and reduced visibility. By Friday night, skies will clear, and temperatures will drop to a low of 18°F.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday promises sunny skies with a high near 26°F, offering a reprieve from wintry conditions. Saturday night will remain calm with temperatures around 10°F. Sunday will bring partly cloudy skies and a high near 28°F, followed by increasing cloud cover heading into Monday.

For residents planning holiday travel, snow showers are likely to return Monday evening, potentially mixing with rain as temperatures rise to the upper 30s.

Drivers are reminded to reduce speed, allow extra travel time, and remain vigilant for icy patches. Pedestrians should also exercise caution on sidewalks.
