Michigan Deputy Shot, Killed in Traffic Stop: Manhunt Ongoing for Suspect at Large

Jefferson Township, MI – A deputy from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office was shot and later died following a traffic stop Thursday afternoon, prompting an extensive manhunt for the suspect.

According to the Michigan State Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. at Beecher and Lamb Roads. The deputy, who sustained at least one gunshot wound, was airlifted to the hospital. He later succumbed to injuries.

The suspect, identified as Eric Michael Fiddler, remains at large. Fiddler is described as approximately 5’10” tall, 190 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities warn that he is armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Fiddler should not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately.

Multiple agencies and K-9 units are actively searching for Fiddler. Further details are currently unavailable.
