Grand Rapids, MI – Snow is set to return to western Michigan starting Tuesday afternoon, bringing a mix of rain, snow, and colder temperatures. Residents should prepare for potentially slick road conditions as snow showers are expected to intensify midweek, particularly on Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will remain mostly dry with a high of 47 degrees, but rain may develop in the evening, transitioning to a wintry mix by Tuesday afternoon. Accumulating snow is expected Tuesday night, with chances of up to an inch by early Wednesday morning. Gusty winds could exacerbate travel issues.
By Wednesday, forecasters predict steady snowfall throughout the day as temperatures drop to a high of 29 degrees. The snow could accumulate by several inches by the evening. Residents are encouraged to use caution on major roadways, such as I-96 and US-131, as reduced visibility and icy patches are likely.
Looking further into the week, snow showers will persist into Wednesday night with lows dipping into the teens. Thursday will remain cold, with a high near 19 degrees and lingering snow flurries. By Friday, conditions will begin to clear, but temperatures will stay frigid, peaking around 28 degrees.
Stay informed by checking local forecasts and considering winterizing your vehicle if traveling is necessary. The NWS urges drivers to monitor updates for possible weather advisories.
