Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – Tropical storm-force winds reaching up to 65 knots are slamming the offshore waters west of Jalisco and Colima on Monday, with dangerous seas expected to persist through Tuesday night.

According to the National Hurricane Center, a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the region south of 20°N and east of 110°W. Winds intensified Monday morning from northeast 55 to 60 knots, shifting to southeast at 60 to 65 knots by afternoon. Seas are ranging from 12 to 18 feet, with wave periods around 12 to 15 seconds. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day and night.

Conditions could worsen into Tuesday as the storm tracks northeast. Offshore winds will remain between 40 and 45 knots Tuesday morning before easing to 25 to 30 knots in the afternoon. Mariners should avoid open waters, secure equipment, and monitor updates from the NHC. Isolated thunderstorm cells may cause sudden gusts and visibility loss.

Impacted areas include coastal corridors off Manzanillo, Barra de Navidad, and Puerto Vallarta. Seas will remain rough through midweek, with lingering swells and strong currents posing risks for small craft and beachgoers alike.

Tropical storm warnings are likely to remain in place through Tuesday night, with calmer conditions expected by Wednesday.
