Memphis, TN – A dramatic plunge in temperatures will grip Memphis beginning Sunday, with lows expected to drop into the teens. Residents are urged to prepare for freezing conditions and monitor forecasts closely as the coldest weather of the season moves in.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Sunday will see a high of only 29 degrees, with overnight lows plummeting to 15 degrees. Monday and Tuesday are expected to stay below freezing, with highs of 27 and 29 degrees, respectively. A weak warming trend is forecast by midweek, but lows will remain frigid, dipping into the 20s through Thursday.

Drivers should exercise caution on Monday morning as icy spots may develop on bridges and overpasses, particularly along major roadways such as Interstate 40. Residents are advised to protect pipes, outdoor plants, and pets during this period of bitter cold.

Beyond the immediate chill, forecasts show temperatures rebounding slightly by Wednesday, with highs approaching 37 degrees and partly sunny skies. However, the possibility of light snow showers lingers late Wednesday into Thursday, though precipitation chances remain low at 20%.
