Melbourne, FL – Visitors and residents along Florida’s Atlantic beaches are urged to stay cautious today due to high rip current risks. Strong currents and rough surf are expected throughout Wednesday, especially near popular spots like Daytona and Cocoa Beach.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the rough surf could persist into the evening, driven by breezy winds with gusts up to 20 mph. All swimmers are advised to avoid entering the water as rip currents are powerful enough to sweep even experienced swimmers into deeper areas.

The weather forecast predicts isolated morning showers, primarily ending by 11 a.m., with afternoon highs around 81°F. A cool front will move through tonight, bringing clearer skies and lows in the mid-60s.

Looking ahead, Thursday will feature sunny skies with a high near 70°F. Winds will shift northwest at 10–15 mph, keeping conditions cooler. By Thursday night, expect lows to dip to 48°F, marking a sharp transition to drier and more fall-like weather.

For the weekend, sunny conditions dominate. Friday’s high will reach 69°F, with lows near 46°F at night. Saturday brings a slight warming trend, peaking at 67°F, and Sunday offers even milder temperatures with highs around 73°F.
