Boston, Massachusetts – Warm spring breezes will whip across Boston and the I-93 corridor beginning Wednesday afternoon, bringing gusts up to 25 mph before cooler air settles in for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, southwest winds will shift northwest by late Wednesday, reaching speeds of 16 to 20 mph. Expect conditions to remain breezy overnight into Thursday morning, potentially complicating travel along exposed routes like Route 1 and I-93. Localized coastal flooding remains possible as higher tides continue impacting the shoreline, especially in low-lying areas near Boston Harbor.

Wednesday’s high will near 70°F under partly sunny skies before a noticeable cool-down overnight, with temperatures dropping to the mid-40s. Thursday will feel more like early spring again, with a sunny but crisp high near 65°F. Winds will finally ease by Thursday evening.

Friday brings a new weather alert: a 30% chance of showers creeping into the Boston area after 1 p.m. While not a washout, intermittent rain and gusty breezes could slow the evening commute. Friday’s high temperature is expected to climb to 76°F, making it the warmest day of the week.

The extended five-day spring forecast shows:

  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, breezy, high 70°F
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, high 65°F
  • Friday: Chance of showers after 1 p.m., high 76°F
  • Saturday: Chance of showers, high 71°F
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 66°F
