Boston, MA – A coastal flood advisory remains in effect for parts of southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, with up to half a foot of inundation expected in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, the advisory covers Southern Bristol and Southern Plymouth counties in Massachusetts, as well as Southeast Providence, Eastern Kent, Bristol, Washington, and Newport counties in Rhode Island. High tides between 4.3 and 7.1 feet above mean lower low water could lead to minor flooding.

Flooding is expected to impact parks, parking lots, and some roadways, though major closures are not anticipated. Officials advise motorists to allow extra travel time and avoid driving through floodwaters, as water depth may be uncertain. Residents in flood-prone areas are encouraged to take necessary precautions to protect property.

Wave heights are forecasted between four and seven feet in some locations, particularly near Narragansett Bay, Mount Hope Bay, and coastal areas of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. While flooding is expected to be minor, residents should remain alert for potential impacts during high tide early Thursday morning.

For updated information, residents should monitor local weather alerts and heed any guidance from emergency management officials.
