Boston, MA – Dangerous heat and humidity will blanket much of Massachusetts through Monday night, with “feels like” temperatures soaring to 100°F in many areas, prompting a Heat Advisory for nearly the entire state.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, the advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday for most of southern New England, excluding the Berkshires and parts of coastal Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. Heat index values are expected to range between 95°F and 100°F, with the highest on Monday.
Cities like Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and Lowell could experience intense heat stress, especially during afternoon hours. Residents are urged to stay indoors with air conditioning, limit outdoor activity, and drink plenty of fluids. Vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children, should be monitored closely.
Public cooling centers may open in some cities, and outdoor events could face delays or cancellations. Light-colored, breathable clothing and hydration are essential. Monday will be the peak of the heat wave, with slightly cooler—but still hot—conditions on Tuesday.
More advisories may be issued if the heat persists into midweek. Residents should stay alert for updates from local emergency management.
