Baltimore, MD – Maryland residents can expect an unseasonably cold week, with gusty winds and snow showers developing in parts of the region. A strong cold front will bring below-normal temperatures and increased wind speeds beginning late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS reports that temperatures in Baltimore will remain in the 40s through midweek, with lows dipping below freezing each night. Starting Wednesday evening, snow showers are forecast for the Allegheny Mountains, with accumulations likely at higher elevations. Gusty winds on Thursday could reach 30 mph, creating potential hazards for drivers on major roadways like I-70. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and drive with caution in windy conditions.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny, with highs in the low to mid-40s. However, wind chills could make it feel significantly colder. By Thursday, expect increasing clouds and breezy conditions, with daytime highs reaching the upper 40s. Temperatures will drop to the 20s overnight.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday offers a return to sunny skies, though temperatures will remain chilly, hovering around 41 degrees. Rain and snow showers could develop Saturday, particularly in higher elevations, before clearer skies and milder weather return Sunday.
Residents should prepare for fluctuating conditions by dressing in layers, ensuring vehicles are winter-ready, and checking local forecasts for updates. For more details on the latest weather alerts, visit weather.gov/lwx.
