Baltimore, Maryland – Thunderstorms could disrupt travel and outdoor plans across Maryland starting Monday afternoon, with Baltimore expecting strong storms and sweltering 95° heat by 2 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms is in effect for central Maryland Monday afternoon. Winds will stay light, but rapid downpours, lightning, and localized flooding are possible — especially along I-95 and U.S. Route 1. Storms are most likely between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, with storm chances returning Tuesday.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and avoid non-essential travel during storm periods. If you’re planning to be outside, seek shelter before thunder arrives and hydrate frequently as heat indices could reach 100°F.

On Monday, highs again reach 94°F, with storms likely after 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday bring similar heat and pop-up storm potential, keeping roadways slick during peak commute hours. Nights will remain warm, with lows hovering near 79°F.

This week’s heat and humidity will push energy use higher, so limit AC strain by running appliances after dark and checking on vulnerable neighbors.
