Baltimore, Maryland – Temperatures across central Maryland could soar into the upper 80s Thursday and Friday, with scattered thunderstorms threatening travel and outdoor plans heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, a warm front pushing northward will keep conditions hot and humid through Friday, especially in lower elevations where highs could reach 88°F. Storm chances increase Saturday, with the potential for severe weather as a cold front nears the region. Heavy downpours and strong winds are possible, particularly in the I-95 corridor and surrounding counties.
In the mountains, daytime highs will range from the upper 60s to low 80s through Friday before cooling into the 50s by Sunday. Overnight lows in western Maryland could dip into the low 40s, and gusty conditions are expected as the front moves through. Elsewhere, nighttime temps will stay mild—hovering in the upper 50s to mid-60s—until Sunday night’s drop.
Residents in Baltimore, Frederick, and D.C. suburbs should prepare for pop-up thunderstorms Friday afternoon and monitor local alerts. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and check for delays if storms intensify on Saturday.
The unsettled pattern will persist into early next week. Cooler, drier air is expected by Monday, but additional advisories may be issued over the weekend.
