Washington, D.C. – Temperatures across the Mid-Atlantic are set to climb sharply this week, with highs in the low 90s expected by Thursday in D.C., Baltimore, and much of Virginia. After a cooler-than-normal May, summer heat is making a full return—and Friday could bring the first round of unsettled weather.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, conditions will remain mostly sunny and dry through Thursday, with highs ranging from 88°F to 92°F and overnight lows rising steadily into the 70s. Cities including Harrisonburg, Cumberland, and Warrenton will see temperatures climb 10–15 degrees above Monday’s start.

Annapolis and Frederick are forecast to reach the upper 80s by midweek. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Petersburgh and Cumberland may also hit the low 90s by Thursday before clouds roll in late Thursday night.

By Friday, a chance of showers will move into the region, potentially offering a brief reprieve from the heat. The exact timing remains uncertain, but residents should stay alert for updates from NWS.
