Baltimore, MD – Thanksgiving Day in Maryland brings gusty winds, scattered rain, and a sharp drop in temperatures heading into the weekend. Residents traveling for the holiday should prepare for changing weather conditions, particularly in the western mountains, where snow is expected Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures today will peak at 56°F in Baltimore before a cold front moves through this evening. Rain and patchy fog are likely this morning, clearing by noon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph, making outdoor holiday activities brisk. Mountain areas near I-70 and westward are forecast to see a rain-to-snow transition tonight, with wintry weather persisting through Saturday.

Friday will bring sunny skies to Baltimore with highs around 50°F, but cold air will dominate the evening with lows dipping to 29°F. In the mountains, temperatures will hover near freezing, with snow accumulations likely on higher elevations, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions.

Saturday remains cold, with daytime highs of 42°F in Baltimore and lows of 28°F overnight. Despite mostly sunny skies, wind chills will make it feel even colder. Sunday’s forecast offers similar temperatures but clear skies, marking an improvement for weekend plans.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items due to high winds, dress warmly for outdoor shopping or gatherings, and monitor forecasts for mountain travel. Drivers heading west on I-70 should use caution and prepare for icy patches.
