Baltimore, MD – A Winter Weather Commuting Hazard is in effect today for the Baltimore-Washington region, where snow showers could disrupt travel during afternoon and evening rush hours. A light accumulation of up to half an inch is possible on untreated roads, creating slippery conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snow showers are expected after 10 a.m., with increasing cloud cover and high temperatures near 34°F. Commuters are advised to exercise caution, plan for extra travel time, and prepare for rapidly changing road conditions along major highways, including I-95 and I-70.
Tonight, skies will gradually clear, with lows dropping to 29°F. Friday brings a welcome break with sunny skies and a high of 42°F. However, increasing clouds Friday night could signal a return to wintry conditions by Saturday morning.
The weekend forecast includes a 40% chance of snow before 10 a.m. on Saturday, followed by mostly cloudy skies and highs near 44°F. On Sunday, another system may bring snow after 1 p.m., with highs peaking at 38°F and lows plummeting to 19°F. By Monday, expect sunny but bitterly cold conditions, with highs only reaching 25°F.
Residents should monitor updates, drive carefully during hazardous periods, and stay prepared for potential delays.
