Washington, D.C. – Scattered thunderstorms could sweep across parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia through late Monday evening, especially west of I-81, as a cold front pushes east.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, isolated storms and showers may continue until early Tuesday, primarily impacting areas west of the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Valley. Eastern cities like Washington, D.C., and Baltimore may see lighter precipitation, with most activity expected to clear by daybreak.

Cities such as Oakland, Hagerstown, and Spruce Knob could experience rumbles of thunder and gusty winds Monday evening, with lows dipping into the 40s. Charlottesville and Fredericksburg remain warmer overnight but could see patchy showers east of I-95 early Tuesday. Tuesday marks a noticeable shift with sunny skies returning by mid-morning and mild highs ranging from the upper 60s to upper 70s across the region.

Drivers should remain cautious during the Monday evening commute, especially along I-81 where brief downpours and reduced visibility may occur. Residents are advised to unplug electronics during storms and check weather alerts overnight.

Clearer skies and above-average temperatures are expected through midweek, but another round of rain could develop by Friday.
