Baltimore, MD – The National Weather Service has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories for portions of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, forecasting snow and hazardous road conditions Friday.

According to the advisory, areas in central and northern Maryland, including Frederick, Carroll, and Baltimore counties, can expect light snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday. Brief, heavier bursts of snow may create slushy conditions on untreated roads, impacting the evening commute.

Meanwhile, Western Highland County, Virginia, is forecast to receive 2 to 4 inches of snow beginning early Friday morning. The snow is expected to intensify late morning into the afternoon, accompanied by wind gusts up to 45 mph. Hazardous conditions are likely along US-250 west of Hightown, with potential travel disruptions during the morning and evening commutes.

In Maryland’s Extreme Western Allegany County and West Virginia’s Western Mineral County, snowfall between 2 to 4 inches is anticipated from early Friday through midnight. I-68, US-40, and US-50 may become slick and hazardous, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Travelers are advised to slow down and exercise caution on icy roads. The 511 hotline is available for real-time road condition updates.

Be prepared for slippery surfaces, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall hours.
