Iron, MO – Residents in Iron, Madison, and Reynolds counties should prepare for a dangerous ice storm this weekend. The National Weather Service issued an Ice Storm Warning Friday afternoon, predicting hazardous conditions beginning Saturday night.

The storm is expected to bring ice accumulations between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch, with additional snow up to two inches. The warning extends from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, significant icing may lead to widespread power outages and falling tree branches. Travel conditions will likely become treacherous, impacting the Monday morning commute.

Residents are urged to avoid travel if possible. Those needing to travel should carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water. The Missouri Department of Transportation advises checking road conditions at traveler.modot.org/map or calling 1-888-275-6636.

With temperatures plummeting, authorities recommend preparing for potential power outages by stocking up on essentials and securing backup heating options.
