The Tampa Bay area is preparing for severe flooding as Hurricane Milton is forecast to bring torrential rain, with up to 7 inches expected by Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for the region, with flash flooding and river overflow predicted. Low-lying areas are at significant risk, especially as drainage systems become overwhelmed.

Storm drains and retention ponds may overflow, causing widespread inundation in both residential and commercial areas. Roads could quickly become impassable, and homes near rivers and streams may face evacuation orders.

Local officials urge residents to stay off the roads during the storm and prepare for emergency evacuations if necessary. With rain continuing into Thursday, some areas may face historic flood levels, particularly in neighborhoods already prone to flooding.
