Caribou, ME – A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for parts of Maine, with heavy snow expected starting Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, areas in Coastal DownEast, Interior DownEast, and Penobscot Valley could see 6 to 9 inches of snow. Winds may gust up to 35 mph, creating blowing snow and dangerous visibility conditions. Snowfall rates could reach 1 to 2 inches per hour in the heaviest bands.

The storm is expected to begin Sunday night and continue through Monday afternoon, potentially impacting Monday morning travel. Hazardous road conditions may make commuting difficult. Blowing snow could further worsen visibility, posing risks for drivers.

Officials urge residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and prepare for disruptions. A Winter Storm Watch signals the likelihood of significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulation. Preparations for travel delays and possible power outages are recommended.

Stay tuned for additional updates as this weather system approaches.
