Caribou, ME – Rain showers will move through Maine from southwest to northeast this morning, with scattered thunderstorms likely in the northern and central regions by the afternoon. The National Weather Service warns that these isolated storms could bring brief heavy rain and thunder, with a few areas in the north potentially seeing localized flooding.
According to the National Weather Service, the showers will persist throughout the day, especially impacting central and northern Maine. Bangor and Dover-Foxcroft will experience a warmer, drier afternoon with temperatures reaching above 70°F, while the coast will remain cooler, especially in the Downeast regions.
However, the weather will take a turn for the worse by Sunday. Strong northwest winds are expected to gust between 40-50 mph, with some higher gusts in the higher terrain. The NWS cautions that it will be a dry day across most of the state, except for a slight chance of rain or snow showers in the Crown of Maine.
Conditions will ease by Monday, with lighter winds and temperatures in the 50s. However, more rain is forecasted to arrive Tuesday into Tuesday night, so residents are advised to stay prepared for additional wet weather.
