Caribou, Maine – Sunshine and warm temperatures will give way to heavy rain and fog by Saturday as a powerful storm system moves through Maine, bringing 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall and cooler conditions across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, Wednesday will remain sunny with highs nearing 80°F inland. Clouds will begin to increase Thursday, with scattered afternoon showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highs will range from the low 70s to upper 70s.

By Friday, much of the state will see overcast skies with additional showers, especially in the north. A larger storm forming over the Mid-Atlantic will track into Maine Friday night, intensifying overnight and bringing widespread rain from south to north.

Saturday’s system will drench the region with steady rainfall and areas of drizzle, especially in western Maine. Fog is likely along the Downeast coast, where travel may be impacted. Highs will drop into the low to mid-60s. Coastal areas will be cooler throughout the weekend.

The storm will push into Quebec by Sunday, with partial clearing expected Down East while northern areas remain cloudy with continued showers. Residents are urged to limit travel during periods of low visibility and keep devices charged in case of power disruptions.

Warmer, drier weather is expected to return early next week.
