Caribou, ME – Snow will begin falling across Maine by early Friday evening, creating slick travel conditions during the evening commute before a transition to rain along the coast overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, precipitation will move into Downeast areas between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., reaching central and northern مناطق by early evening. Coastal communities will see snow quickly mix with and change to rain overnight, while areas north of Lincoln remain cold enough for all snow through Saturday afternoon.

Towns including Bangor, Ellsworth, and Bar Harbor will likely see a rain-snow mix by late evening, reducing accumulation but increasing the risk of wet, slippery roads. Farther north in Caribou, Presque Isle, and Fort Kent, snowfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches, with light snow lingering into Saturday afternoon.

Drivers along I-95 and Route 1 should watch for reduced visibility and slick spots, especially during the transition period overnight. Flood advisories remain in effect until noon Friday for parts of the Pleasant and Piscataquis rivers, adding another layer of concern.

Another round of light snow is expected Sunday into Monday, with up to 3 inches possible, mainly Downeast. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve through the weekend.
