Augusta, Maine – Dense morning fog is slowing visibility across parts of Maine early Saturday, with rain expected to move into southern regions by the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, today will stay mostly cloudy with high temperatures ranging from the upper 50s north to the mid-60s Downeast. Rain is most likely in southern cities including Portland, Lewiston, and Augusta by late afternoon, while areas farther north remain drier but overcast. Visibility could remain limited through mid-morning in low-lying inland areas.
Drivers should use caution on Routes 1, 202, and I-295 during the morning hours due to patchy fog. Wet roads and low visibility may linger into the evening, especially across York and Cumberland counties, where rain chances increase after 3 p.m. Tonight, temperatures will drop into the 40s statewide, with cloudy skies persisting overnight.
Sunday brings a shift: expect partly sunny skies and highs in the 60s across northern regions like Caribou and Presque Isle, while the south sees more clouds and a slight chance of showers.
Maine residents should prepare for a mostly dry start to the workweek, though rain could return by midweek. Another update will follow if additional advisories are issued.
