Caribou, Maine – Caribou residents should brace for a soggy stretch through Monday night as a series of showers, gusty winds, and patchy fog move across northern Maine.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain chances will spike to 80% Sunday, with southwest winds gusting up to 32 mph. Showers will continue Sunday night into Monday, with a 70% chance of precipitation and occasional fog, particularly in low-lying areas.
Southbound travel on Route 1 and U.S. Highway 1A may be affected by reduced visibility and slick pavement. Sunday night winds could reach 25 mph, posing a hazard for high-profile vehicles. Rainfall totals are expected to remain under a quarter inch per day, but could disrupt outdoor events and limit visibility through early Tuesday.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items and avoid non-essential travel during peak wind periods. Power outages are not expected, but it’s a good time to charge devices and prepare emergency lighting, especially in rural parts of Aroostook County.
Skies will clear by Tuesday, with sunny conditions and a high near 73°F. However, another round of showers is possible by Thursday.
Warnings remain in effect through Monday night, with updates expected by early Tuesday.
