Caribou, Maine – Cool air and scattered showers will linger across northern Maine through Monday night, bringing a risk of patchy frost in low-lying valleys as overnight lows drop into the 30s.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, showers will continue off and on from the Central Highlands northward into Monday, while the southern half of the state remains mostly dry. High temperatures Monday will stay in the 50s across the north, with lower to mid-60s expected farther south.
Overnight Monday, temperatures are expected to fall into the 30s in the valleys and mid-40s elsewhere, prompting concerns about frost in the coldest pockets. Residents in rural and elevated areas should protect sensitive vegetation.
Conditions will improve by Tuesday, with dry weather and warmer air pushing inland. Highs are forecast to reach the low 80s by Wednesday across much of central and southern Maine. Along the coast, temperatures will remain cooler but still climb into the upper 60s to low 70s.
A cold front arriving late in the week could bring another round of showers and thunderstorms, especially Thursday into Saturday.
