Caribou, ME – Residents in Northern and Downeast Maine can expect snowy conditions Sunday morning, with accumulations ranging from 1 to 4 inches. Light snow will spread across the area late tonight into early Sunday morning, impacting travel during the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, temperatures Saturday will remain cold, peaking at 19°F, with wind chills dropping to -4°F in the morning. Sunday’s snow showers are expected to taper off by the afternoon, with new accumulations of up to 3 inches in Caribou and up to 4 inches Downeast. Winds will shift from southeast to north at 7 mph, keeping conditions brisk.

Travelers should exercise caution on local roads, including Route 1 and Route 9, where slick conditions could cause delays. The snow will give way to partly cloudy skies Sunday night, with lows dipping to 9°F.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring sunshine with highs near 22°F before another system moves in late Monday night, potentially bringing additional snowfall. By midweek, temperatures will climb sharply, with highs reaching 43°F on Wednesday. Rain and patchy fog are forecast for Wednesday, potentially creating stormy conditions along the coast.
