Corinth, ME – A monthslong investigation has led to an arrest in the deadly September shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured in Corinth, according to Maine State Police.
According to investigators, troopers responded around dawn on September 21, 2025 to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near 272 Main Street. When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old Michael McGregor of Skowhegan outside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. He was flown by LifeFlight to a hospital for emergency care. Troopers then located a second victim, 46-year-old Scott Roberts of Glenburn, deceased inside a nearby apartment.
According to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, an autopsy on September 22, 2025 determined Roberts died from a gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
After what police described as an “extensive, several weeklong, multi-agency investigation,” an arrest warrant was issued for 27-year-old Jawon Owens of East Hartford, Connecticut, who allegedly committed murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated assault with a firearm. Maine State Police report that Owens was taken into custody Thursday, November 13, 2025, by the Hartford Police Department without incident.
Owens is currently being held at the Hartford Correctional Facility while awaiting extradition to Maine for an initial appearance in Bangor Judicial Center. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public but emphasized that the investigation remains active.
