Caribou, ME – A powerful Arctic cold front is sweeping through Maine, bringing dangerously low temperatures, bitter wind chills, and chances for snow through Sunday. Residents should prepare for frigid conditions, with highs struggling to reach the teens and wind chills dropping below -20°F in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, the cold front will push through early Wednesday, with gusty winds making conditions feel even colder. Highs will hover near 9°F on Wednesday, dropping to single digits overnight. Snow showers are expected, particularly in southern areas. By Thursday, the cold intensifies, with a high of just 6°F and wind chills approaching -25°F.

Hazardous travel is possible, especially in areas experiencing snow squalls. Drivers should use caution on major roadways, including U.S. Route 1 and I-95, as blowing snow could reduce visibility.

Looking ahead, temperatures remain bitter through the weekend, with additional snow chances on Friday and Sunday. Residents should dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable neighbors as extreme cold sets in.
