Pendleton, OR – Dense fog blanketed the Kittitas and Yakima valleys Tuesday morning, significantly reducing visibility in the area. The northern Blue Mountains also reported visibility as low as a quarter mile.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, conditions should improve early this afternoon. The advisory warns drivers to allow extra time for travel and stay cautious. Fog is expected to impact highways 82, 84, 90, and 204, where reduced visibility can make driving hazardous.
Motorists are urged to check updated forecasts on WSDOT or TripCheck websites before heading out. Safety tips include using low-beam headlights, maintaining distance between vehicles, and avoiding high beams, which can worsen visibility in fog.
Travelers should prepare for slower commutes and monitor changing weather conditions throughout the day. The National Weather Service classifies the current fog risk as minor but cautions that localized conditions may vary.
Drivers are encouraged to follow all safety guidelines to avoid accidents during the fog advisory. Use caution, especially in low-lying areas and near mountains.
