Louisville, Kentucky – A line of showers and a few thunderstorms is crossing southern Indiana and central Kentucky Monday morning, bringing brief downpours and gusty winds to the region through early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, this band of activity will move west to east, clearing by mid-afternoon as breezy and mostly cloudy conditions continue. Highs Monday will range from 72 to 78 degrees across the area.

Cities like Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, and Frankfort may see brief lightning and slick roads during the midday hours. Drivers should slow down and watch for standing water during the heaviest rainfall periods. Winds may gust up to 25 mph, especially along the I-65 corridor.

Dry and more seasonable weather is expected Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 70s and partly sunny skies. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the brief lull, as the weather is expected to become more unsettled late Thursday into Friday with another round of showers and storms possible.

Additional updates will be issued as the late-week system develops.
