Louisville, Ky. – Lingering showers will taper off across Kentucky Monday night, but a new concern is brewing as wildfire smoke from central Canada drifts south, bringing hazy skies and reduced air quality to the region by Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, drier weather is expected to take hold through Thursday, with temperatures steadily climbing. Highs will reach the low 80s on Tuesday and peak between 85° and 90° by Thursday afternoon. Overnight lows will stay mild, ranging from the mid-50s to low 60s, though patchy fog is possible each morning.
Skies will be mostly sunny across cities like Lexington, Bowling Green, and Owensboro through midweek, but visibility may be reduced as haze settles in. Those with respiratory conditions should limit time outdoors Tuesday and Wednesday as smoke particulates increase.
Drivers should be alert for foggy spots during early commutes, especially in valley areas. Residents are also urged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat.
The warm, dry trend is expected to hold through Thursday evening, but forecasters warn that additional air quality alerts may be issued if smoke concentrations intensify.
