Louisville, KY – Subzero wind chills and dangerously low temperatures are gripping Kentucky today, with a cold weather advisory in effect until 1 p.m. Arctic air sweeping through the region is expected to keep temperatures below freezing through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, wind chill values are forecasted to reach as low as -8°F today in Louisville, with some areas experiencing even colder conditions. Single-digit temperatures, combined with strong winds, will persist into midweek, prompting warnings about frostbite and hypothermia risks for those exposed to the elements.

Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit outdoor activities, and check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and pets. Travelers should also exercise caution on roads like Interstate 65 and Interstate 71, where icy conditions may develop.

Tonight, temperatures are expected to dip to around 10°F, with wind chills remaining near zero. Tuesday will bring a slight chance of flurries but no significant snowfall. Highs are forecasted to reach 17°F during the day and drop to 18°F overnight. By Wednesday, temperatures will slightly improve, with highs nearing 27°F under mostly sunny skies.

The cold spell is projected to ease later this week, with highs climbing into the mid-30s by Thursday and Friday. Despite the warming trend, frigid conditions will dominate early in the week.
