Louisville, Ky. – Scorching heat across Kentucky and southern Indiana is pushing afternoon temperatures into the mid-90s Saturday, with Louisville expected to reach 96°F — the highest reading of the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, today’s heat is paired with dry conditions and mostly sunny skies. Temperatures range from 92°F in Russell Springs and Salem to 95°F in Bowling Green and Campbellsville. Overnight lows will stay warm, hovering between 69°F and 75°F under mostly clear skies.

The heat continues into Sunday with highs near 95°F, but isolated afternoon and evening storms could offer brief relief, especially around Lexington, Danville, and Elizabethtown. By Monday, forecasters expect more widespread scattered showers and storms across the region, with slightly cooler highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Drivers should stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and be alert for slick roads if storms develop. The combination of high heat and humidity could make it feel closer to 100°F in some areas.

More widespread rain is possible early next week as the humid pattern lingers. Additional advisories may be issued as thunderstorm activity increases.
