Shreveport, Louisiana – A marginal threat for severe weather will affect East Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. The main hazards include strong winds and hail, with the possibility of quarter-sized hail and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, the threat will be at its highest during the afternoon and evening, with conditions primed for severe storms to develop. A Level 1 out of 5 risk has been issued for these regions, with East Texas facing the greatest potential for severe weather.

In addition to hail and high winds, some isolated storms could bring intense rainfall, making driving hazardous on area roads. Residents are advised to be on alert, especially in areas like Texarkana, Shreveport, and Nacogdoches, where storm conditions are expected to be most severe.

For safety, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep a weather radio or smartphone handy to receive updates. While the storms may not last long, their intensity could create disruptions, especially along highways in the affected areas.
